THE WHITE LINE organization came out to Highlands Ranch to present me an award and thanks for working on traffic laws, in particular being the prime House sponsor for SB26-072 (Increased Penalty for Vehicular Homicide & Assault). Still boggles my mind that it takes FOUR DUIs before it is considered a felony. Served in Japan and the Japanese consider drunk driving to be the functional equivalent of shooting a gun into a crowd. A little thin from last year but that's because Laubacher pulled a crowd about twice the size and our commissioner candidate was in a separate horse drawn surrey with 5-6. So still growing and expanding.

Busy Sunday. Town Hall - about 10-12 people so medium-low turnout; NAACP monthly membership call; DougCo Pride (rained out after about 3 PM) and Black Legislative Caucus Black Excellence Gala. (So people who asked if I've gotten rest since session ended...)

Poppies! Collecting money with the VFW for Memorial Day. None of the money goes to the post (multiple veterans homes and other veterans causes) and our post (4666) usually raises among the most in the nation. Always great to remind the younger generation about the meaning of the poppy and "In Flanders Field". https://poets.org/poem/flanders-fields

For the first time ever the county commissioners elections bill has reached the senate!

I ran an amendment to take $742K from the film office, leaving them with $500K, and send it to the severely disabled community which are having their budget slashed by millions.

The second regular session of the 75th General Assembly started on January 14, 2026. This year I am serving on the House Finance and the Business Affairs & Labor committees. With every bill that comes before the House, I am dedicated to supporting proposals that will better the lives of people in Highlands Ranch (House District 43) and the lives of people in Colorado.
