E-BIKE Tax Rebates
This reporter went back to listen to the Finance Committee hearing where this fiasco was approved and found that there was actually a legislator who informed everyone exactly what would happen. It's actually no fun being Cassandra in the Capitol constantly . . . foresight is resented not appreciated... But hey, $6M+ for free Ebikes . . . yet we couldn't find $300K for disabled kids . . . "Criticism over the program's structural design is not new. When the tax credit was init

RIP Jason Harwell
Our HD43 air game has been grounded. Just found out my aerial banner man died last month. Sad. Reached out to ask him to help provide air cover for Oktoberfest and our potential 10th combined arms campaign operation. Didn't answer so reached out by phone and spouse said he died. We did get to do the July 4th 250th USA Anniversary flight and the 150th Colorado on August 1. All the naysayers who kept saying it was a waste of money . . . it showed attitude with altitude.

Medicaid
Spent six hours at the medicaid task force meeting on Friday. Was looking to give public comment at the behest of several members of the IDD community who had their reimbursement rates slashed. But they added a last second agenda item to listen to HCPF's brief on their status as we have now apparently overspent almost $150M on Medicaid this year (in a budget year we were already going to have to look at cuts). Horrible. But when I tried to reprogram just $300K from the fi

Sneaky Hobbitses
Very well-done article by one of the few reporters who pays consistent attention to Douglas County and its ongoing shenanigans from the GOP cabal here...OF course they hired their $915/hr attorney the day the citizen petition was certified in order to undermine and squash it. And of course, the same attorney is representing Victor Marx in his campaign finance violation case. (Of course the taxpayers were being billed at over $1600/hr with the extra $700/hr sidekick lawyer t

Award from the White Line organization
THE WHITE LINE organization came out to Highlands Ranch to present me an award and thanks for working on traffic laws, in particular being the prime House sponsor for SB26-072 (Increased Penalty for Vehicular Homicide & Assault). Still boggles my mind that it takes FOUR DUIs before it is considered a felony. Served in Japan and the Japanese consider drunk driving to be the functional equivalent of shooting a gun into a crowd. You may not intend to kill or injure someone, but

Highlands Ranch parade
A little thin from last year but that's because Laubacher pulled a crowd about twice the size and our commissioner candidate was in a separate horse drawn surrey with 5-6. So still growing and expanding.

Busy Sunday with town hall and community events
Busy Sunday. Town Hall - about 10-12 people so medium-low turnout; NAACP monthly membership call; DougCo Pride (rained out after about 3 PM) and Black Legislative Caucus Black Excellence Gala. (So people who asked if I've gotten rest since session ended...)

VFW collecting donations for Memorial Day veterans causes
Poppies! Collecting money with the VFW for Memorial Day. None of the money goes to the post (multiple veterans homes and other veterans causes) and our post (4666) usually raises among the most in the nation. Always great to remind the younger generation about the meaning of the poppy and "In Flanders Field". https://poets.org/poem/flanders-fields
